A little about who I am. I was a kid of the 80's. Video games, roller
skating, bowling and riding my bike were my preferred past-times. I did
not like school and was glad when I was freed from high school. I used to
stay on my computer for hours on end. It wasn't the most popular thing to
do, but even if it were, I still would not have been very popular. I would
stay up until 5am working on something on the computer and I loved it! But,
at the time, unless you had good grades in high school, or parents that could
pay your way into a prestigious university, the prospect of taking any
advanced computer classes was well out of reach. I ended up as a security
guard. It did allow me to smoke my cigarettes and keep graveyard hours, but
the pay was miserable and the job was mind-numbing. At one point I even
attempted community college, then gave up. In 1997, I decided to quit smoking.
I wasn't fond of coughing up 'yellow smurfs' any more. A couple years after I
quit, I was told what great an accomplishment it was to be able to do that. I
started working for the city library system which encouraged me to give
college another try. I went back to community college to earn my Associates
Degree, but unlike my first attempt at college, an Associates Degree wasn't
going to be the end of my scholastic career. Last May, I earned my AS in
Business Administration (see above). This school year I am taking classes
that will admit me to San Diego State University in my quest to earn a
Bachelors Degree in Information Systems. My friend Scot has been an
inspiration for that; that and my new found need to constantly challenge
myself. It really is true, you can do what ever you want to, make it good!
